WELCOME TO MY NEW BLOG & WEBSITE
I launched my “New England Romance” blog 10 years ago, before Instagram ruled the world and girls were just taking photos of their outfits in front of brick walls and sharing them with the world. It introduced me to a community of local bloggers, helped me land more than one job, and was a fun hobby while I navigated the tricky transition into adulthood.
Flash-forward to December 2018, when I quit my full-time job as a magazine editor to work for myself as a freelance writer and marketer. I hastily used my limited Wordpress skills to create an online portfolio, an absolute necessity to accompany cold pitch emails. I vowed when my business took off, I’d revisit the site. Well, guess what!? Some of those cold pitches worked, and nearly three years later I’m on pretty solid footing.
Meanwhile, I hadn’t posted on my blog since announcing the birth of my daughter June…who is now 9 months old. It was clear I needed a new site that could support my business and my blog in this new internet era of Instagram, affiliate shopping, and one-click Amazon satisfaction. I enlisted Kathleen O’Reilly of Grey Stripes and Denim to build a one-shop-stop that could highlight my portfolio, marketing services, and include a blog to quickly share outfit affiliate links and large-scale photos.
So here we are, in a beautiful new site that works for the evolution of me, my business, and my brand. Over on my portfolio, I’ll be updating links to include my latest bylines. And here on the blog, you’ll find quick outfits with shoppable links, photo shoots, and the occasional in-depth post. I probably won’t post every day or even every week, but I promise it will be more than every nine months.
In the meantime, you can keep up with the everyday on Instagram. A lot has changed since those spray-tanned outfit photos of the 2010s (though apparently, not my taste in color), and I want to thank you for your support of New England Romance, and me, over the years. Comment below with what you’d like to see on this new blog!
